Washington offers up draft memories

|
Manager Ron Washington offered up some memories of when he was signed as a non-drafted free agent by the Kansas City Royals back in July, 1970.

Washington asked for a $35,000 signing bonus at the urging of his high school coach.

"My mother took me outside and said, 'What are you doing? Get in there and sign that contract.'" Washington said he received a Wilson glove and Rawlings shoes as his bonus.
