ARLINGTON -- With the Rangers beginning a stretch of three consecutive Interleague series on the road Friday, manager Ron Washington is preparing to use designated hitter Vladimir Guerrero in the outfield.
Washington said Guerrero will play the field on Friday and Sunday against the Brewers before using him Tuesday and Thursday against the Marlins.
He said he'll make a decision on how to use him in the Astros series later next week.
"The only disadvantage we got is we have eight hitters instead of nine that we're used to," Washington said.
Guerrero entered Thursday second in the American League in RBIs with 51 and fifth in batting average at .336.
He's started four games in the outfield this season, accumulating 35 innings and recording eight putouts.
