ARLINGTON -- Triple-A pitcher Brandon McCarthy, who had just returned from the disabled list last week, is back on it with inflammation in his right shoulder. He received a cortisone injection Thursday and will be placed on the seven-day disabled list. McCarthy was placed on the DL the first time on April 24 with a stress fracture in his right shoulder blade. He made his first appearance after coming back on June 3, pitching a scoreless inning of relief and picking up the win. He also pitched a scoreless inning on Saturday against Omaha.
In six games this season with four starts for Oklahoma City, McCarthy is 2-0 with a 2.35 ERA and 19 strikeouts in 30 2/3 innings.
