ARLINGTON -- It was announced on Tuesday that Rangers right-handed pitcher Tanner Scheppers was named to the U.S. team for this year's All-Star Futures Game at Angel Stadium on Sunday, July 11. Scheppers, a right-handed pitcher with Triple-A Oklahoma City, is 1-0 with a 2.36 ERA in two starts this season for the RedHawks. He's also struck out 33 hitters in 26 2/3 innings of work. "It's a great credit to Tanner and the scouts down at the bottom that have worked in our system," general manager Jon Daniels said. "With his season, he's put himself on the map as one of the great young pitchers in the game. It reflects well on the organization and the people that have worked with him to get Tanner to this point."
Scheppers began the season in Double-A Frisco and quickly shot up to the club's highest Minor League level. In six games at Frisco, Scheppers was unable to record a decision but carried an 0.82 ERA, with 19 strikeouts and no walks in 11 innings.
