Nevin hits fourth homer in Rangers' loss

Royals at the plate: Paul Bako hit two home runs and drove in four runs. Doug Mientkiewicz went 4-for-4 with a pair of doubles.

Rangers at the plate: Phil Nevin hit his fourth home run, a three-run shot in the seventh off Mike Wood. Kevin Mench hit a solo home run in the second and has 10 RBIs.

Royals on the mound: Scott Elarton, who has been named the Royals' Opening Day starter, worked four innings, allowing one run on three hits, while striking out two and walking one. Mike Wood struck out four and allowed three runs, one unearned, in four innings.

Rangers on the mound: Starter Adam Eaton permitted four runs on six hits in three innings, while striking out two. Rookie left-hander Fabio Castro, a Rule 5 Draft pick the Rangers acquired in a trade with the Royals, had a rough outing, giving up five runs on four hits in just two-thirds of an inning.
