Rangers at the plate:
Second baseman Ian Kinsler launched a three-run homer to left-center against Shawn Estes in the second inning, Kinsler's second of the spring. Former Padre Adam Hyzdu walked, singled and scored twice, and another ex-Padre, D'Angelo Jimenez, had a two-run single.
Padres at the plate:
Making his Cactus League debut after experiencing calf and ankle problems, Terrmel Sledge had a double and RBI single in two at-bats. Walter Young lined a three-run homer against Joselo Diaz, Dave Roberts had a pair of RBI singles and a walk, and Justin Leone had two singles and an RBI double.
Rangers on the mound:
Starter Vicente Padilla went three innings, giving up one earned run on three hits and a walk while striking out three. Antonio Alfonseca pitched a perfect inning of relief, striking out one.
Padres on the mound:
Estes became the first Padres pitcher to go four innings, giving up three runs (all on Kinsler's homer) on three hits while walking two and striking out five. Scott Cassidy pitched two innings, and all three of the runs he allowed in the sixth were unearned because of an error by Mike Cameron in center field on a wind-twisted fly ball by Laynce Nix.

The Padres host the White Sox on Saturday at Peoria Stadium. Right-hander Chris Young (0-1, 10.80 ERA) makes his third spring start, facing right-hander Jon Garland. The Rangers face the Rockies on Saturday at Surprise Stadium with right-hander Kameron Loe making his first appearance, opposing right-hander Jose Acevedo (0-0, 3.00).
