BREWERS 10, RANGERS 5
at Maryvale Baseball Park
Wednesday, March 22
Rangers at the plate:
Mark DeRosa had two hits and scored a pair of runs, but the Rangers lost to the Brewers for the second time this spring. The teams were tied at 2 after two and a half innings, but the Rangers were outscored, 8-3, the rest of the way.
Brewers at the plate:
Corey Koskie hit a pair of home runs -- giving him a team-high four homers despite a stint with Team Canada in the World Baseball Classic -- and drove in three runs. Gabe Gross also homered and Geoff Jenkins hit a pair of doubles, including one that hit high on the center-field batter's eye.
Rangers on the mound:
Starter Edinson Volquez (1-2) surrendered five earned runs in two-plus innings and suffered the loss. He allowed five hits and walked three without a strikeout.
Brewers on the mound:
Tomo Ohka (1-2) entered the game with an 8.10 spring ERA but looked sharp, striking out seven in five innings of work. Ohka allowed seven hits and four runs, only two of which were earned because of a throwing error by second baseman Bill Hall.
Cactus League records:
Rangers 8-10-1; Brewers 10-9-1.
Rangers newcomer Kevin Millwood aims for his first spring win when Texas faces the Chicago White Sox on Thursday at Surprise Stadium. For the Brewers, right-hander Dave Bush faces a Thursday start against Brad Hennessey and the San Francisco Giants at Maryvale Baseball Park.
