Rangers at the plate: It was a light-hitting day, as Texas managed just four hits. John Mayberry Jr. knocked a run-scoring double in the third inning. Erubiel Durazo and Travis Metcalf added doubles.

Rockies at the plate: Garrett Atkins knocked his first spring homer, a solo shot to right-center off Vicente Padilla in the first inning. Todd Helton went 3-for-3 with a double. Brad Hawpe was 1-for-2 with two walks, while Matt Holliday was 1-for-4.

Rangers on the mound: Padilla, the No. 3 starter, pitched 5 2/3 innings, marking just the second time a Texas starter has gone as many as five in Cactus League play. He gave up three runs on eight hits, struck out two and walked two.

Rockies on the mound: Starter Miguel Asencio held the Rangers to one run on two hits in five innings. Left-handed bullpen candidate Jaime Cerda gave up his first run in 9 2/3 spring innings. A walk, his eighth this spring, hurt him. Jose Acevedo gave up a leadoff hit in the ninth, but forced a double-play grounder and ended up earning the save.

Cactus League records: Rangers 9-12-1; Rockies 13-11.

Up next: Texas right-hander Kameron Loe will make his fourth start of the spring on Sunday at 2:05 p.m. CT against Milwaukee at Surprise, Ariz.

The Rockies will go with fifth-starter candidate Josh Fogg against Oakland at Phoenix in a 1:05 p.m. MT contest. It's also No. 2 starter Aaron Cook's day, and he will pitch in a Minor League game.
