ARLINGTON -- The Rangers' first weekend at home was a success both from a baseball and a commercial standpoint. Among the numbers from the three-game series with the Red Sox: The Rangers drew 144,828 fans, the second most for a three-game series at the Ballpark in Arlington. They drew 148,894 for a three-game series against the Yankees on May 21-23 2004. FOX Sports Southwest reported that the ratings for Friday's game were the highest ever for the Rangers on Opening Day. The rating was 5.5 and was even better on Sunday, when the Rangers drew a 5.7 rating.
In addition to hitting 11 home runs, most ever for the first three games of the season, the Rangers had 21 extra-base hits. That's one more than they had in the first three games of 1992, when they had 20 extra-base hits.
