Diaz blasts second homer of spring

Rangers at the plate: Victor Diaz hit his second homer of the spring, a two-run, third-inning shot off Barry Zito. Diaz was 2-for-3 on the day with three runs scored and two RBIs. In the inning, Jason Botts had an RBI double, his second of the spring and fifth RBI.

Giants at the plate: Jason Ellison continued his torrid spring hitting with a line single to open the bottom of the first. He went 1-for-3 on the day and for the spring is hitting .700 (14-for-20). Barry Bonds hit his second homer, a fourth-inning moon shot over the picnic pavilion in right field. He was 1-for-2 with a sacrifice fly and is batting .455 (5-for-11) with two homers, two doubles and six RBIs.

Rangers on the mound: Starter Robinson Tejeda yielded two runs in the Giants' first-inning rally. Four of the first five batters got on base safely. Tejeda lasted two innings, allowing two runs, three hits, while walking three and striking out three.

Giants on the mound: Zito had the longest stint of a Giants starter this spring, logging four innings and throwing 79 pitches. He allowed four runs on five hits -- including the homer - walked two and struck out three.

Cactus League records: Rangers 6-3; Giants 8-3.

Up next: The Rangers play the Angels at Surprise on Sunday. Jamey Wright is scheduled to go. The Giants have a split-squad doubleheader with the Mariners in Scottsdale and the A's in Phoenix. Matt Cain is slated to start here and Brad Hennessey is scheduled to go there.
