ARLINGTON -- Brandon Webb was scratched from his rehabilitation start Friday night for Triple-A Round Rock due to shoulder discomfort. Webb will meet with team physician Keith Meister on Saturday. "We won't know anything until Dr. Meister sees him, but he's been shut down," Rangers manager Ron Washington said.
Even though Webb appears a long way from being able to contribute to the Major League team, the Rangers are not yet ready to give up on his eventual return this season. "I don't think, at this point, that he's not going to help us this year," Washington said. "We just want to get him to see the doctor, then see what the next step is." In four starts for Double-A Frisco, Webb gave up 13 earned runs in 12 innings while striking out eight.
