ARLINGTON -- Rangers third baseman Adrian Beltre said Monday he is hopeful that he will be off the disabled list in a minimum of 15 days.
Manager Ron Washington is not so sure.
"I hope he is a quick healer, and I hope he gets right," Washington said. "We're not taking any chances in getting him back here before he is right."
Beltre suffered a strained left hamstring on Friday night against the Blue Jays and was placed on the DL on Saturday.
"It's exactly the same injury that [Julio] Borbon had and he came back in three weeks," Beltre said. "I'm a quick healer, I'm hoping to come back in two weeks."
Beltre was hitting .276 with 20 home runs when he was hurt and he was second in the league with 76 RBIs. He was also hitting .330 with eight home runs and 23 RBIs in his last 24 games.
"I was getting into a groove offensively and playing better defensively," Beltre said. "I'm bummed out this happened. But the doctor said it could have been worse. I'm thankful it's not two or three months and just two to three weeks."
