ARLINGTON -- Hall of Fame inductee Ivan Rodriguez will be honored by the Rangers in a series of events over the weekend of Aug. 11-12, the team announced on Tuesday.
The festivities begin at 11:30 a.m. CT on Friday, Aug. 11, with the Dr. Pepper Hall of Fame Luncheon at the Omni Hotel in Fort Worth. Tickets can be purchased for $100 at texasrangers.com/halloffame or by calling 817-622-7883; Hall of Famer Roberto Alomar, Hall of Fame President Jeff Idelson, and Rangers Hall of Famers and former teammates will make appearances.
On Saturday, Aug. 12, Rodriguez will have his No. 7 jersey hung on the left-field facade of Globe Life Park, becoming the third Ranger to have his number retired by the club. The ceremony will commence on the field at 6:45 p.m.; the first pitch between the Rangers and Astros has been moved back to 7:35 p.m.
To top off the celebration, Rodriguez's Cooperstown plaque will make an appearance at Globe Life Park on both days. Fans can view and take pictures of the plaque on the concourse on Friday from 5:30 p.m. until the end of the game -- first pitch is at 7:05 p.m. -- and on Saturday from 8 p.m. until the end of the game.
