SURPRISE, Ariz. -- Colby Lewis, who is expected to be the Rangers' Opening Day pitcher, arrived in camp on Tuesday sporting a full beard. He also arrived without a contract for next year.
The Rangers picked up Lewis' $3.25 million option for this season after he went 14-10 with a 4.40 ERA in 2011. But he is eligible for free agency after the season, just one of 11 guys off the Rangers' World Series roster who can become a free agent within the next two years.
"We had very small, limited talks right after the season," Lewis said. "They wanted to know how I felt. Nothing came of it this offseason. If something comes up, it will come up, but I'm not too concerned about it. I've got to take care of the daily stuff."
