Minneapolis, MN—The Texas Rangers announced today that right-handed pitcher Yoshinori Tateyama has been recalled from his rehab assignment, reinstated from the 15-day disabled list, and optioned to Triple-A Round Rock of the Pacific Coast League.
Tateyama was placed on the 15-day disabled list on April 4, retroactive to March 30, with a low back muscle strain. He was sent to Round Rock on rehab assignment on April 11 and retired all three batters he faced with one strikeout in his only appearance on Friday vs. Iowa.
Tateyama was 2-0, 4.50 with one save in 39 appearances with Texas and 1-0, 2.14 with one save in 14 games with Round Rock in 2011. He had pitched the previous 12 seasons with Nippon/Hokkaido for Nippon Professional Baseball.
