Napoli gets a rare day off on Sunday

CLEVELAND -- Mike Napoli was out of the lineup on Sunday for only the sixth time this season. He had started six straight games either at catcher or first base before getting Sunday off.

"I'll still get my work in and be ready if they need me to pinch-hit or play the field late," Napoli said.

Maybe do what Adrian Beltre did on Saturday night, when he hit a three-run pinch-hit home run in the 11th?

"Hopefully we'll be up five runs in the ninth and won't need it," Napoli said.

The break comes with Napoli hitting just .205 (8-for-39) with one home run and two RBIs in his last 11 games. That skid began right after he hit home runs in five straight games.

"I still feel like I'm taking good swings," Napoli said. "I'm feeling good in the box, I'm just missing my pitches and fouling them straight back. I'm still sticking to my plan and not worrying about anything."
