ARLINGTON -- Matt Garza would be the Rangers' starter on Wednesday if they make it to the Wild Card Game against the Indians. But that is contingent on Garza not being used in relief on Monday against the Rays. It is also contingent on the Rangers actually beating the Rays.
Manager Ron Washington said all pitchers except Yu Darvish are available if needed behind left-hander Martin Perez on Monday. That includes his three other starters: Garza, Derek Holland and Alexi Ogando. It would be Garza's turn to pitch on Wednesday if the Rangers make it that far.
"Of course we've got him penciled in for Wednesday," Washington said. "But if we need to use him tonight, we will."
Garza, who has not faced the Indians this season, is 4-5 with a 4.38 ERA in 13 starts for the Rangers since being acquired from the Cubs on July 22.
