The Rangers second baseman has been reinstated from the 15-day disabled list. To make room for Kinsler on the 25-man roster, the club has placed outfielder Nelson Cruz on the 15-day disabled list -- retroactive to Aug. 4 -- with a left ankle sprain.
Cruz suffered his ankle injury on the final play of the club's walk-off defeat to the Athletics on Aug. 3 and will be eligible to be activated from the disabled list on Wednesday. He is hitting .269 with 25 home runs and 58 RBIs this season.
Kinsler was placed on the disabled list on Aug. 2, retroactive to July 29, with a strained left hamstring and has played the past two days for Double-A Frisco on an injury rehabilitation assignment. He went 0-for-7 in those games with a walk, hit by pitch, and run scored. He suffered the hamstring injury while running out a ground ball in the sixth inning on July 28 against Detroit and left the game prior to the seventh.
Kinsler is hitting .242 with 23 home runs, 20 doubles, 71 runs scored, and 63 RBIs this season. He leads the Rangers in RBIs and ranks among the American League leaders in stolen bases with 22. Prior to the injury, in which he has missed the team's last 15 games, Kinsler had started 96 of the team's first 98 contests.
