Rangers announce scouting promotions

ARLINGTON -- The Rangers have promoted Gil Kim to director of international scouting, the club announced on Tuesday. Kim replaces Mike Daly, who has taken over as senior director of Minor League operations.

Kim moves up from assistant director of international scouting. He has also worked at the Rangers' academy in the Dominican Republic and served as a scout in Latin America. He is in his fifth season with the Rangers after being hired out of Vanderbilt, where he played baseball.

The Rangers also named Rafic Saab as their director of Latin American scouting. Saab, who has been with the Rangers since 2006, had been serving as the Latin American cross-checker. Saab was influential in the amateur signings of pitcher Martin Perez, second baseman Rougned Odor and shortstop Luis Sardinas.
