RHP Chaz Roe rejects outright assignment, elects free agency

The Texas Rangers announced today that right-handed pitcher Chaz Roe has rejected an outright assignment to the minor leagues and elected free agency.

Roe had been designated for assignment on January 29 when the Rangers were awarded left-handed pitcher Pedro Figueroa on a waiver claim from the Tampa Bay Rays. Roe had been acquired by Texas in a November 1 waiver claim from Arizona. He made his major league debut with the Diamondbacks last season, going 1-0 with a 4.03 ERA (10 ER/22.1 IP) over 21 games and 4 stints.
