Right-hander Willie Eyre has been recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma City by the Rangers, and he will be in Ron Washington's bullpen for tonight's series opener in Baltimore.
This will be the 31-year-old veteran's fifth stint of the season with Texas, having earlier posted a 3.48 ERA in eight appearances.
In an unrelated move, the Chicago Cubs acquired right-hander Thomas Diamond, designated for assignment on Tuesday, in a waiver claim from the Rangers.
In-between his big league stints and two stints on the disabled list with a strained right groin, Eyre made 19 appearances for Oklahoma City, with a 2.10 ERA and an opponents' average of .205.
Eyre becomes the 34th active player on Texas' expanded September roster.
