The Tigers, who are from Cancun, captured their second Mexican League championship in the last three seasons in 2013, defeating Monterrey, four games to one, in the final series.
Texas is scheduled to start RHP Tanner Scheppers, who was named today as the club's opening day starter. He will be opposed by Quintana Roo RHP Amaury Sanit.
A pair of special pre-game ceremonies are planned for tomorrow night. The Rangers will honor the memory of Adelfa Botello Callejo, whose work over many decades had a huge impact on the Dallas Hispanic Community. Ms. Callejo passed away at age 90 in January and members of her family will take part in a special presentation. In addition, Rangers Spanish radio broadcaster Eleno Ornelas will receive the 2014 Golden Microphone Award from the National Association of Mexico Broadcasters, the organization's highest award.
There will be a pre-game performance by the Arlington Sam Houston High School Mariachi Group and Norma Valles will sing both the American and Mexican National Anthems.
