Frisco fans get close look at tornado on Opening Night

Thursday's Opening Night at Dr Pepper Ballpark in Frisco, Texas, home of the Double-A Frisco Roughriders, took a frightening twist when a tornado touched down in a nearby community, spawning heavy rain, high winds and baseball-sized hail.

Fans could see the tornado looming, not far away, beyond the left-field wall.

At least one tornado reportedly hit land somewhere between the towns of McKinney and Farmersville, about 30 miles east of Frisco. The destruction included barns, power lines and homes. At least four people were injured in the nearby town of Merit according to a Weather Channel report.

The Roughriders are an affiliate of the Texas Rangers, whose veteran left-hander Matt Harrison was making a rehabilitation start against Northwest Arkansas on Thursday. However, the severe weather forced postponement with the score tied at 2-2 in the third inning.
