To make room on the active roster, RHP Seth Rosin (row-ZEEN) has been designated for assignment.
Kouzmanoff, 32, is batting .313 (5-16) with one RBI in four games at Round Rock this season. He has started twice at third base and once each at first base and DH. He was signed as a minor league free agent in December 2013 and was a non-roster invitee to spring training where he batted .370 (20-54) with three homers and 12 RBI in 27 games.
The righthanded batter has a career major league average of .255 with 85 homers and 361 RBI in 672 games with Cleveland (2006), San Diego (2007-09), Oakland (2010-11), and Colorado (2011). His last major league game was on Sept. 28, 2011 at San Francisco for the Rockies. He spent 2013 at Triple-A New Orleans in the Miami organization, hitting .294 in 60 games. Kouzmanoff drove in 70+ runs in four consecutive years from 2007-10, setting career bests with 23 homers in 2008 and 88 RBI in 2009.
Rosin was 1-0 with a 6.75 ERA (3 ER/4.0 IP) in three appearances, his first in the big leagues, with the Rangers, including his first major league victory on April 2 vs. Philadelphia. He was claimed on waivers from the Los Angeles Dodgers on March 26. He was a member of the Dodgers 25-man roster for Opening Day in Sydney, Australia, but did not appear in either game.
The right-hander was selected by the New York Mets from Philadelphia in the Major League phase of the MLB Rule 5 draft on December 12, 2013 and was traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers on the same date. The right-hander must be offered back to Philadelphia if he passes through the waiver process.
With today's moves, the Rangers major league roster remains at the 40-man limit.
