Rangers' front office announces promotions

The Rangers announced on Tuesday the promotions of four members in their baseball operations department.

A seven-year member of the organization, Ron Hopkins became special assistant to general manager Jon Daniels. A.J. Preller was promoted to senior director of player personnel and will oversee professional, amateur and international scouting.

Kip Fagg, a national cross checker the past three seasons, is the new director of amateur scouting and pro scout. Josh Boyd assumed the director of pro scouting position.

"These moves are designed to strengthen and further integrate our scouting departments across the board," said Daniels in a statement. "It is consistent with our goal to be the top scouting and development organization in the game, as well as our belief to promote from within when appropriate. I congratulate Ron, A.J., Kip and Josh on their well-deserved promotions, and look forward to working with them and their staffs as we move forward."
