Arlington, Texas-The Texas Rangers honored longtime team standout Michael Young in a pre-game ceremony prior to Saturday's game.
Highlights of tonight's ceremony:
--May 17, 2014 has been proclaimed Michael Young Day in the City of Arlington. Young was presented with a proclamation.
--Young was presented with the 2014 Major League Baseball Assistance Team's Bart Giamatti Award, which is presented annually to an individual in baseball who best exemplifies the compassion demonstrated by the late Commissioner, for his generosity in giving back to the community.
--The Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation presented a $10,000 contribution to the Michael Young Family Foundation.
--The Texas Rangers presented Young with an original artwork of his three sons, Mateo, Emilio, and Antonio, produced by noted sports artist V. Wells.
--The Rangers players and coaches presented the Young family with a trip to Walt Disney World in Florida.
