Adduci suffers setback with fractured pinkie

ARLINGTON -- With Prince Fielder and Mitch Moreland on the disabled list, the obvious replacement at first base was right fielder Jim Adduci, but now he's unavailable.

"He re-broke his finger when he dove at first base the other day," general manager Jon Daniels said of Adduci, who was on rehab assignment at Triple-A Round Rock and was just a few games away from his return from a fractured left pinkie finger.

Daniels said Adduci and the doctor were going to try to let it heal on its own for a few days, but that when the pain didn't alleviate, Adduci went back in to reassess the situation.

"It had not improved, so he went ahead and had two screws put in the finger to allow it to heal properly," Daniels said. "We've got approximately three weeks before he'll be back playing games."
