Second baseman Travis Demeritte, the Rangers' No. 9 prospect, homered twice Thursday in Class A Hickory's 10-1 victory at Savannah.
Demeritte went 3-for-5 with three runs and five RBIs. He has homered four times in four games.
Demeritte led off the second inning with his first home run of the night. His second was a three-run shot in the ninth inning. It was his second two-homer game of the season and first since April 10.
In 91 games this season, Demeritte is hitting .235/.331/.508. The 19-year old leads the South Atlantic League with 23 home runs, four ahead of teammate Nomar Mazara.
Demeritte and Mazara are attempting to become the second Hickory duo to finish 1-2 in the South Atlantic League home run race in as many years. Joey Gallo and Ryan Rua, the Rangers' Nos. 1 and 18 prospects, did so last year, mashing 38 and 29 home runs, respectively.
