Rangers at the plate: In his return to action after missing four games with discomfort in his surgically repaired shoulder, catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia had a run-scoring double. Chris Davis went 2-for-3, including a first-inning RBI single.Dodgers at the plate: In his first at-bat with the team, Garret Anderson singled sharply off lefty Derek Holland in the second, and wound up 1-for-3 as the designated hitter. Torrid Blake DeWitt had two more hits to raise his average to .421. When DeWitt left the game, his position remained hot, as replacement Argenis Reyes singled for the go-ahead run in the seventh. Matt Kemp tied it at 4 with a two-run homer in the sixth off righty Pedro Strop, his second of the spring. Brian Cavazos-Galvez stretched the lead to 6-4 in the eighth with a homer on his first Cactus League at-bat, off lefty Clay Rapada.
Worth noting: Along with Anderson, the No. 00 made its Dodgers debut. Anderson is the first Dodgers player ever to wear that number, having chosen it over the only other available -- No. 84 -- as "the lesser of two evils." The Dodgers already had a No. 0 in camp -- Anderson's former Angels teammate, Alfredo Amezaga, who still hasn't seen any game action as he rehabs from a left knee injury.Cactus League records: Rangers 4-5-1; Dodgers 3-5-1 Up next: The Rangers play their first night game of the season when they host the Giants at 8:05 p.m. CT on Monday in Surprise. The game will be broadcast back home on FOX Sports Southwest and KRLD 1080 AM. Rich Harden pitches for the Rangers, followed by Darren O'Day and Doug Mathis. Top prospect Madison Bumgarner is scheduled to pitch for the Giants.
The Dodgers visit Tempe and the Angels on Monday for the Cactus League version of the Freeway Series, except this time it's the I-10, not the 405. Vicente Padilla is scheduled to start in the first of four spring games between the crosstown rivals, with former Angel righty Ramon Ortiz also due to pitch. Anderson, eager to load up on as many at-bats as possible, should remain in the lineup for his first-ever game against his longtime former team.
