ARLINGTON -- Yunel Escobar was called out at the plate in the second inning of Monday night's Rays-Rangers contest, which prompted a crew chief review to determine whether Rangers catcher Robinson Chirinos had violated Rule 7.13.
Escobar tried to score from third on Desmond Jennings' bunt down the first-base line with one out in the second. Rangers first baseman Adam Rosales fielded the ball and threw to Chirinos, who tagged out the sliding Escobar.
Rays manager Joe Maddon went onto the field to talk to home-plate umpire Alan Porter and soon they were joined by Joe West, the crew chief.
After a review of 3 minutes and 5 seconds, the umpires determined that the call would stand.
