Angels at the plate: Kendry Morales and Howard Kendrick each singled and doubled and had two RBIs. Maicer Izturis stroked a two-run double, walked and stole a base. Hideki Matsui also doubled and singled. Jeff Mathis banged a two-run single, and Erick Aybar singled twice and was robbed of a hit. Cory Aldridge continued his fine spring with a single and triple, scoring a run and raising his average to .393, and Efren Navarro had an RBI single.

Rangers at the plate: Catcher Matt Treanor hammered a two-run homer after David Murphy's double. Julio Borbon tripled to center, scoring on Michael Young's single, and singled home a run. Young had two singles and a walk. Chris Davis doubled, taking third on an error, and scored on Taylor Teagarden's double. Vladimir Guerrero doubled, singled and lined out to leave the bases loaded. Josh Hamilton had two singles and a walk.

Angels on the mound: Starting in place of Scott Kazmir (left shoulder tightness), Sean O'Sullivan gave up three earned runs on eight hits in four innings, striking out two and walking two. Brian Fuentes worked a scoreless inning with a strikeout. Brian Stokes went two innings, giving up one run on two hits and a walk with two strikeouts. Eddie McKiernan struck out the side after surrendering two runs.

Rangers on the mound: Southpaw Derek Holland cruised through three scoreless innings, allowing two hits, before yielding two earned runs on four singles in the fourth. He pitched a 1-2-3 fifth but surrendered two runs in the sixth, ending with four earned runs allowed in 5 1/3 innings on eight hits, with two strikeouts. Alexi Ogando (one-third of an inning, three hits, two walks, two runs) struggled before Ben Snyder pitched out of a bases-loaded jam.

Worth noting: Rangers right fielder Nelson Cruz made a sliding catch in foul territory on Kendrick's twisting fly ball. Second baseman Joaquin Arias robbed Aybar with a backhanded stab behind the bag. Mathis threw out two Rangers attempting to steal.

Up next: Matsui is expected to make his second Cactus League start in left field on Friday when the Angels travel to Scottsdale to face the Giants and Cy Young Award winner Tim Lincecum, who is looking to fine-tune his premium stuff after some early struggles. Jered Weaver starts for the Angels in the 1:05 p.m. PT game. After a slow start, Matsui has come alive with a bat. He stroked his first homer in an Angels uniform on Wednesday. The Angels are hoping he can handle a few starts a week in left. Weaver is making his fifth start and should get in the 90-pitch range before gearing down somewhat in his final spring outing.

Rich Harden faces his old team when the Rangers host the Athletics at 3:05 p.m. CT on Friday at Surprise Stadium. Harden pitched for the Athletics from 2003-08 and was 36-19 with a 3.42 ERA. Harden has an 11.25 ERA in four starts this spring. The game came be heard by webcast on texasrangers.com.
