ARLINGTON -- Count Cubs pitcher Kyle Hendricks among those who give great credit to Rangers' Triple-A pitching coach Brad Holman. The two were together at Class A Myrtle Beach in 2012 prior to Hendricks being traded to the Cubs at the July 31 Trade Deadline for Ryan Dempster.
"I would sit next to him every day in the dugout and learn from him," Hendricks told Chicago reporters. "He was unbelievable. He did a lot to get me to this point."
Hendricks joined the Cubs rotation after pitchers Jeff Samardzija and Jason Hammel were traded to the Athletics and is 4-1 with a 1.73 ERA in five starts. Holman is in his second season at Round Rock.
