Rangers extend player development agreement with Hickory Crawdads through 2018

Arlington, Texas - The Texas Rangers today announced that the organization has extended its Player Development Agreement with the Low-A Hickory Crawdads of the South Atlantic League for four years through the 2018 season.

The Crawdads have been the South Atlantic League affiliate of the Rangers since the 2009 campaign with playoff appearances in 2010 and 2011. Hickory posted a league-best 79-58 record in 2011, including the franchise's first 1st-Half Northern Division Championship since the 2003 season.

Hickory is currently 77-58 in 2014, the fifth best overall record in the South Atlantic League. The Crawdads were eliminated from playoff competition on Thursday night. Since becoming a Rangers affiliate, Hickory has a 444-384 (.536) record with five consecutive winning seasons.

"On behalf of our ownership and President of Baseball Operations Jon Daniels, I wanted to thank the Crawdads for providing us another opportunity to extend our great partnership," said Rangers Senior Director, Minor League Operations Mike Daly. "The support of the ownership, management, and fans in Hickory is first class and we look forward to a productive affiliation over the next four years."
