Servais steps in while Moore is gone
ARLINGTON -- Rangers dugout coach Jackie Moore will be away from the team for an indefinite period due to the death of his daughter, Sherry Moore-Parker. She passed away on Sunday in Houston.
Farm director Scott Servais will serve on manager Ron Washington's coaching staff while Moore is away. Hitting coach Clint Hurdle, who had six years of experience as the Rockies' manager, will do double duties as the bench coach while Servais serves in other areas.
One of the most important roles for a bench coach is to serve as an in-game advisor/sounding board for the manager on potential strategy and possible moves.
